Lately, I’ve been noticing a higher than normal lack of communication, especially around when invoices will be paid. This is a small business killer when there is no communication or when invoices are overdue. Like most people, we have bills to pay and people to pay also.
A small business can’t survive long if invoices go unpaid for an extended period. Costs stack up, putting the business into negative income, and can lead to an unrecoverable position because they can’t plan or grow their business.
Our terms and conditions now emphasize this point, especially that we also have automated invoice reminders encouraging communication if it’s not paid by the due date. This will be something we will now be cracking down on. Bookings won’t proceed unless you have either booked online or filled out a contact details form on our website. Invoices 7 days overdue will now attract a 10% late fee.
