Our 4 Step Mould Remediation Process
At Kingdom Kleaning, we follow a sound four-step process for mould remediation to ensure every job is done thoroughly and correctly. From the initial inspection to the final clean-up, our approach covers all bases for complete mould eradication and prevention.
1. Inspection & Reporting
We begin with a comprehensive on-site inspection of your property. Our mould specialists check all areas – including hidden, damp-prone spots – to assess the extent of the mould infestation. We use advanced tools like thermal imaging cameras, moisture meters, and borescope inspection cameras to detect hidden dampness behind walls, under floors, and in ceilings. This allows us to find moisture leaks or water ingress feeding the mould.
After the inspection, you’ll receive expert advice on the necessary steps to resolve the mould issue, including fixing any moisture problems we discovered. Identifying the cause is key! Otherwise you run the risk of mould reoccurrences down the track.
We make sure you fully understand what’s happening and how we plan to remedy it.

2. Testing
To determine the severity of the mould and the types of mould present, we conduct testing as needed. This may include collecting surface and air samples to be analysed. By measuring mould spore counts, we can tailor the remediation approach appropriately (for instance, gauging whether heavy or light remediation is required). Depending on your situation, we might use one or more of the following testing methods to get a complete picture.
Surface tape lift (sticky strips): We press an adhesive strip on a surface to pick up mould spores for analysis, which reveals the concentration of spores per square centimetre and the mould present.
Swab testing: We swab visible mould growth and send the sample to a lab to identify the exact mould species and toxins it may produce. This helps in understanding any health risks and proper treatment needed.
Air quality testing: We set up air sampling pumps to capture airborne mould spores. This test measures how many spores are in the air and can detect hidden mould growing behind walls or in air conditioning. A high spore count indicates a more severe contamination that needs robust treatment.
3. Mould Treatment
Once we’ve identified all affected areas and mould types, we move on to treatment. This is where we kill the mould at its source using the Nature’s Defence™ system. We deploy industrial-grade diffusers throughout the property to saturate the air and surfaces with a natural mould-killing formula. This process runs for about 24 hours, filling every room with an antimicrobial vapour that eradicates mould spores and surface mould. Treatment may be extended for particularly large buildings or severe infestations. You may notice a fresh, herbal scent rather than a chemical smell – that’s the natural plant-based solution at work!

4. The Clean (Post-Treatment Clean-Up)
After the mould has been treated and killed, the final step is crucial – cleaning up the dead mould and any residual matter. Even when mould is dead, its spores and fragments can still be allergens or irritants, so we make sure to thoroughly remove them.
Once we’ve completed the clean-up, we do a final inspection to confirm your space is truly mould-free and safe.
Safe, Chemical-Free Mould Treatment for Homes & Businesses
One of the biggest advantages of choosing Kingdom Kleaning is our use of the Nature’s Defence™ mould treatment system. This innovative approach is eco-friendly and non-toxic, meaning we can eradicate mould without resorting to harsh chemicals or bleaches.
Plant-Based & Powerful
Nature’s Defence is a scientifically proven formula derived from natural plant extracts and essential oils that have strong anti-fungal properties. We harness the power of Mother Nature to kill mould at the root, instead of just bleaching its colour.
Whole Area Treatment
Using industrial diffusers, we disperse the Nature’s Defence solution as an ultra-fine mist that penetrates every nook and cranny of your property. It reaches ceilings, walls, carpets, inside vents, and even wall cavities – places you could never get to with a cloth and bottle. This means both airbourne mould and surface mould are treated simultaneously.
Family-Safe & Fume-Free
Because Nature’s Defence™ contains no chlorine, ammonia, or other toxic chemicals, and doesn’t produce any harmful fumes. There’s no strong “chemical odour” – typically just a mild natural smell. This makes it safe to use in homes with kids, elderly residents, pets, or anyone with chemical sensitives.
By choosing Kingdom Kleaning and the Nature’s Defence™ system, you’re opting for a safe, eco-conscious mould remediation solution. We care about your indoor air quality and the broader environment, so we never use anything in your home or business that we wouldn’t use in ours. It’s mould removal you can feel good about, with results you can trust.

Mould Remediation & Mould Removal FAQs
Is your mould removal treatment safe for my family and pets?
Yes – our mould remediation process is completely safe for your household. We use an eco-friendly, plant-based solution (the Nature’s Defence system) instead of harsh chemicals like bleach or ammonia. That means no toxic fumes, no harmful residues, and no risk to your children or pets when the treatment is done. In fact, the products we use are commonly considered low-allergen and non-irritant. After the process, there will be a clean, natural scent – no chemical odour – and you can have peace of mind that your indoor air is healthy. Your home will be mould-free and safe to occupy, even for sensitive individuals.
Do I need to leave my home or business during the mould treatment?
We generally recommend vacating the property during the active 24-hour mould treatment. While our diffused treatment is non-toxic, the process of killing mould can stir up a lot of spores and particulate in the air as the mould dies off. It’s best that you and your pets aren’t breathing that air during the treatment period. Most of our customers arrange to be out of the house for the day or to stay elsewhere overnight while the diffuser is running. Once we’ve finished the treatment and completed the clean-up (removing all the dead spores), it’s perfectly safe to return. You won’t come back to any bad smells or dangerous chemicals – just a fresh, mould-free home. If you absolutely cannot leave for some reason, talk to us and we’ll find a way to minimise any risk (for example, treating one area at a time), but for optimal safety and comfort, a temporary evacuation is advised.
Can I remove mould myself, or do I really need professional help?
For very small patches of mould, you might be able to handle it yourself – for example, a bit of surface mould in the shower. Using white vinegar or a specialised mould spray from the supermarket can clean minor mildew, though you should always wear a mask and gloves and ensure good ventilation when doing so. However, be cautious: scrubbing visible mould can release invisible spores into the air, potentially spreading the problem or affecting your health. Household products like bleach might make a mould stain disappear, but they often don’t kill the mould roots beneath the surface, so the mould can grow back. If you’re dealing with anything more than a isolated tiny spot (say, a largish patch on a wall, recurring mould, or a room that smells musty), it’s wise to call professionals. Our team will properly contain the area, use equipment to remove spores from the air, and apply treatments that actually eliminate the mould completely. We also address the cause of the mould, which DIY methods usually don’t cover.
What can I do to prevent mould from coming back after removal?
Preventing mould regrowth is all about controlling moisture and humidity in your property. After we’ve removed the mould, you’ll want to keep the environment dry and inhospitable to mould. Here are some key steps: Fix any leaks or water issues that were identified – for example, repair leaking roofs, pipes or gutters promptly. Improve ventilation in damp areas: use exhaust fans in bathrooms and kitchens, open windows regularly to let fresh air circulate, or consider a dehumidifier in chronically damp rooms. Keep an eye on indoor humidity; ideally it should be below ~60% – if it’s very humid, a dehumidifier or air conditioner can help reduce it. Regular cleaning and maintenance also matters: don’t let clutter or furniture block air flow (especially against external walls), wipe down condensation on windows or walls when you see it, and clean up small spots of mould immediately before they spread (using vinegar or methylated spirits, for example).
